If you need to bring feedback on your usage of Haiku, one of the best method is to use the official tools.
The first tool - the Tracker - is to report bug / enhancement on the system and on the official apps or on the website.
The second one - the forum - is for a more general usage.
Let's review them in details in this article.
If you bring accurate feedback of your usage of Haiku to the community, your action will give value to the Haiku ecosystem.
But if you bring accurate feedback with the right tools, the value will be higher, trust me :)
The first tool "Haiku Development Tracker" is not really sexy.
But it does the job :
For that, you need to create an account and connect to "Development Tracker" website :
Once login, you can view all the tickets (bugs/enhancements) which have been created by other users / developers and which are still open :
For instance, I've already reported a bug on an application, and it's visible with the "Active tickets I reported" :
Of course, if you find some bug or if you want to propose enhancement, you are encourage to create a ticket for that :
You can attach some logs files or some screenshots if needed. Depending on the priority the Haiku community will consider your ticket, you should see some feedback on it :
The scope of the bug or enhancement can be as per below :
As you can see, the website is listed as one of the component (even if most of the tickets are relative to the OS).
You can check - for instance - all the current tickets positioned on the R1/beta6 milestone which are still open (ie not closed) :
Finally, if you need for any reason to have access to the tickets list via RSS, if the below icon is visible at the end of a list, then an RSS feed is available :
Nice isn't it ?
The forum is used for a more informal exchange, or if you require some help on a topic, or if you would like to share some information on the Haiku ecosystem.
It's complementary to the Development Tracker tool.
It means that if you find a bug you would like to follow, the best way is to enter it into the Development Tracker.
You can of course use the forum, but it will be quickly limited as the follow up of bugs or enhancements can't be done this way.
Any other idea you would like to share ?
