Handle Backgrounds

This article will be shorter than the previous one, as we will talk about backgrounds under Haiku.

Backgrounds is a way to customize your system, sol let's see how to do that.

Four years ago, there was a contest on the Haiku website regarding some proposal on wallpapers dedicated to Haiku.

We can take these backgrounds as a start for the customization we want to do. Go to the following URL :

You should see a list of possible wallpapers to download :

Let's take the "Scurigat" one.

I find it interesting because there are 12 color variations in the archive.

Decompress the file and put the wallpapers in a dedicated directory. On my system, there are under the "/boot/home/Screenshots" folder.

Open the "Backgrounds" application in the preferences menu :

Let's replace the default background : click on "Image" and select "Other" :

Take the wallpaper of your choice and validate by "Select".

Then select "Placement>Scale to fit" :

Great !

Now you should have the below nice wallpaper as a background for your system :
