Play Chuckie Egg

Do you know the game Chuckie Egg ?

It's a game released in the 80's which has been available for the ZX Spectrum machine.

I propose to rediscover this game and play with it on Haiku.

As a reminder, you must own a legal copy of the game to have the right to do some retrogaming with it.

Pre-requisites

If you do not have already setup your Haiku system to do retrogaming, please read the article about Retrogaming under Haiku.

Next you need to install the ZX spectrum retro library. In a Terminal, type :

pkgman install fuse_libretro

The ROM of the game must be placed in the "/boot/home/ROMs/zxspectrum" folder:

Now launch Emulation Station Desktop Edition :

es-de --resolution 800 600

In the main menu, select "Scraper" :

Select "Scrape these systems" :

You need to hit "Return" on the "Sinclair ZX Spectrum" line and then "Back" :

Then "Start" :

The media of "Chuckie Egg" should be downloaded with the below message :

I noticed there's a bug to recognize the video for the game under ES-DE, so empty the below folder before launching the game :

Now you can go into the "Sinclair ZX Spectrum" system :

And select "Chuckie Egg" :

When the main screen is displayed below, hit the "S" key to start :

Select a number of players (1 to 4) :

Then the main screen below should be displayed :

The aim of the game is to collect all the eggs in the game.

You must avoid to touch the blue birds or you will die, and the purple seeds will give additional points.

The default key controls are as below on an azerty keyboard :

Once you will retrieve the last egg, you will reach the next level :

The higher the level number is, the harder. In the below level, you can notice some elevators can be used :
