Puzzle Bobble - also known as Bust a Move - is a puzzle game released by Taito in the 1990s.
In this article I will explained how to play it on Haiku.
As a reminder, you must own a legal copy of the game to have the right to do some retrogaming with it.
If you do not have already setup your Haiku system to do retrogaming, please read the article about Retrogaming under Haiku.
You also need to install the libretro for snes9x :
Finally, place your ROM into the « /boot/home/ROMs/snes » folder :
Launch Emulation Station and select « Scraper » :
Then select the « Nintendo SNES » system :
Hit « Back » and start the scraping. If everything is ok, now select « Nintendo SNES « :
Select « Puzzle Bobble », you should see the picture and animation of the game :
Before launching the game, let’s check the manual. For that, hit the « X « controller in order to view the media :
Then press « Up » arrow to read the PDF manual :
As you can see the controls are straightforward :
Something you need to keep in mind is that there are special bubble items in the game :
Ok we are ready to go:)
Under Emulation Station, launch the game :
On the main screen, press start :
Select a one player game :
We will start from the beginning :
Now you can play :
Just hit the bubbles with the same color to make them disappear.
Once all bubbles are cleared, the round is completed :
As explained in the manual, you can encounter special bubble items. In the round 3, there are flame bubbles :
Once hit, they explode !
You can also have thunder bubbles :
Once hit, the bubble is clearing an entire line on the board :
So the corresponding round is easy to finish :
In case you loose a level, you can continue or quit :
In case you quit, remember the password indicated :
Next time you play the game, you can select the « Continue « option and type the password in order to start at the corresponding round.
