Sometimes native application can save you some time.

QuickLaunch is one in this category you should really discover if you have never used it before.

Let's review its features.

Standard usage

First, install QuickLaunch from HaikuDepot.

Once done, click on the "Applications>QuickLaunch" menu in the DeskBar.

You should see the below main window appear :

Type "Genio" or the name of an application you would like to launch:

Then click on the icon/name and that's it : it will launch the corresponding application !

In case you need to put it as a favorite, right click on its icon and select "Add to favorites":

The next time QuickLaunch will start it will display the list of your favorites :)

Quick access

Now let's simplify the call to QuickLaunch.

Under the application, click on the "Setup" button to have access to the window below:

Then click on "Open Shortcuts preferences":

Add a new entry with "/boot/system/apps/QuickLaunch".

Then indicate "Key" as Space and "Alt" as Either.

Now if you need to quick search/launch an application, hit "Alt" + "Space" and the below window will appear :

Nice isn't it ?

In case QuickLaunch has already been called, you can also have access to its window with the last icon below :

You can also use wildcards like "*player" when you need to search for an application's name ending with "player".

The result is as per below :

A last tip : it's possible to drag/drop any shortcut (like the Quick Tour one) into QuickLaunch window :

In that case it will become a favorite.
