I use LaunchBox every day on my Haiku system.
It allow me to quick launch applications or to access to folders easily.
If you don't know really this native app, just read this short article to discover the rocket part of Haiku :)
LaunchBox is a quick launcher for Haiku and is available in the "Desktop Applets" menu .
To use it on a daily basis, I advice you to right click and select "Settings>Autostart" :
Next time you will start the Haiku operating system, the LaunchBox will be launched automatically. Well, let's see what can we do :
Once a slot is free, just drap and drop your favorite application to make it available via LaunchBox.
You can also open the folder corresponding to the slot or set the description of the slot :
I'm not using the description feature, but you get the idea below :
I'm a big fan of vectorized icons !
Hence I'm a big big fan of the icon size feature. Let's see the world in big :
You know what ?
These icons are splendid in 128x128 pixel size :
You can put back the original 32x32 size :)
The last feature which can be useful too.
You can drag folder or the trash to the LaunchBox :
For folders, it means one click will be enough to open your favorite folder.
However one disappointment here : the specific folder icon (like the "home" folder icon) is changed to a standard folder icon.
For the trash, it just a handy way to open it.
You won't be able to drag and drop to the LaunchBox the files you want to delete (it might be a future feature, who knows ?).
In case you need more than one pad for your icons, you can clone or create a new pad.
I'm not using it, but you can create several pads, and put them vertically or horizontally depending on your preference :)
What is your current setup for LaunchBox ?
Let's share it on the Haiku forums associated topic.
